How to order turf for Christmas and New Year

If you are planning a turfing project over the Christmas and New Year period, you may need to think ahead a little.

Can I store turf in winter weather?

We don’t normally recommend storing rolled turf for more than 8 hours. However, in cooler weather, turf does tend to take a little longer to start decomposing.

You should be able to keep your turf for 24-48 hours before unrolling it. Make sure it has good ventilation (don’t cover it with a tarpaulin) and break the stack down into 2 or 3 smaller stacks if you can. NEVER water turf while it is rolled up.

If your does get frozen, don’t worry, leave it alone and lay it as soon as the ground thaws.
